The United States is seizing 30 sites used for “Iranian misinformation.” News about cybercrime


The US Department of Justice’s Department of Commerce has seized about 30 websites, many of them linked to Iranian disinformation activities, US government sources told Reuters on Tuesday, citing the Associated Press.

An official announcement from the US government is expected later.

The sites appear to include Iran’s state-run Iranian state-run Press TV, Yemen’s Houthi-run Al Masira satellite news channel, and Iran’s state-run Arabic-language Al-Alam TV channel.

The US government issued a warning on Tuesday. The statement said the sites were confiscated “within the framework of law enforcement action” by the US Department of Industry, the Bureau of Export Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
