Israeli forces kill Palestinian officers during “secret mission” Middle East News

At least three Palestinians, including two reconnaissance officers, were killed during an offensive in the Israeli city of Jenin on the West Bank.

Israeli forces have shot dead at least three Palestinians, including two Palestinian Authority (PA) military intelligence officers captured during a raid in the Jordanian city of Yenin yesterday, Palestinian officials said on Thursday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has identified the two officers as 23-year-old Adam Yasser Allawi and 32-year-old Taiser Isa, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported, adding that the third victim was Jam Amil al-Amour, who was being held in Israeli jails.

Another Palestinian officer, 23-year-old Mohammed al-Bazour, was seriously wounded during an Israeli secret mission and was taken to an Israeli hospital, according to Wafa.

An online video available to the Associated Press shows Palestinian officers hiding in the back of a car as shots are heard in the background. One shouts that they are exchanging fire with Israeli “hidden” forces.

According to Israeli media reports, al-Amuri was a former prisoner of war with Palestinian Islamic Jihad, but this has yet to be confirmed by Palestinian officials.

Reporting on the capture of East Jerusalem, Al Faze al-Azeh’s Harry Fawcett said the incident was a “secret operation in a civilian car”.

“The concept is that they (Israeli forces) targeted at least one member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

“One boy was killed and another was wounded and taken away by Israeli forces during the operation. “It is understood that the murdered man is a member of IG,” Fawcett said.

The second man reportedly taken was a Palestinian named Wissam Abu id aid. He was reportedly arrested during the operation.

“Dangerous Israeli escalation”

A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned what he called a “dangerous Israeli escalation”, saying three had been killed by Israeli special forces who were disguised as Palestinians during the raids.

The spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudaina, called on the international community to intervene with the United States to stop such attacks.

There is conflicting information about the details of the case.

The Israeli military and police did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, an Israeli official told Reuters anonymously that Palestinian officers had been killed at the intersection.

“Local witnesses say Israeli forces opened fire on members of the Palestinian military intelligence, officers who were there near the scene in front of their security building,” said Al-Azeh Azeri Fawset.

“Israeli media have reported that the Israelis opened fire on them, but whatever happened, it is known that two of those military intelligence officers were killed and a third was seriously wounded and taken to an Israeli hospital.

“This is on the banks of the Jordan River, which was occupied by Israeli forces who killed Palestinian military intelligence officers,” he added.

Under interim peace agreements signed in the 1990s, the PA has limited autonomy in the scattered enclaves that together form the banks of the occupied Jordan River. Israel has a high-level security force on the West Bank, regularly launching arrest raids in Palestinian cities, and cities controlled by the PA.

According to the 1993 Oslo Accords, the PA is considered must pass information to Israel on any armed resistance to Israeli occupation called “security system” was suspended for a short time last year after an Israeli plan to seize the occupied Jordan River.

Hamaz, which heads the Gaza Strip, has criticized the PA for so-called “security coordination”. Many Hamas members have been arrested in connection with the PA’s cooperation with the Israeli authorities.

Israeli forces frequently arrest raids on the occupied Jordan River. On May 25, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian during a raid near Ramallah.

Palestinian media reports say that after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave, Israel deployed fortifications at the northern entrance to the Palestinian city.

Funeral services for the three Palestinians killed will be held late Thursday. There have also been calls for a general strike in Palestinian cities.

The incident comes weeks after a fragile peace agreement was reached after Israel’s 11-day war against besieged Gaza left more than 250 Palestinians, including 66 children.

At least 12 people have been killed in rocket fire by Palestinian militants in Israel.
