Dominic Thiam has confirmed that he will play in the ATP 250 event in Mallorca this year. The Mallorca Championship is scheduled to start on June 21, it will be the only stadium No. 4 in the world on the eve of Wimbledon 2021.
The team left the current “Roland Garros” on the very first day, losing to the Spaniard Pablo Andujar, although he liked two sets with one point. The shocking defeat of the Austrian has now cast a shadow over how he will spend the rest of his season.
He said that Dominic Thiem still hopes to save his 2021 season. Announcing his participation in Mallorca, the 27-year-old footballer insisted that he wanted to add more games under his belt. He pointed out that he decided to take part in 250 events at the last minute.
“I need matches,” said Dominique Thiem. “And I’m glad I can be in Mallorca in no time.”
“He does not play badly, but you see that we have to erase all the blows.” Wolfgang, father of Dominic Tiem
The German publication Krone was able to reach out to Wolfgang Thiem, the world’s No. 4 father, for comment. Wolfgang claimed that he and the rest of his team were ironing out Dominic Thiem’s troubles before assuring him that his son would be ready to compete in a few weeks.
“He is not playing badly, but you can see that we have to adjust all the shots,” said Wolfgang. “Over the next few weeks, we will refine and optimize everything.”
Religion spoke with Dominic Thiem about the prospects of Dominic Thiem in Mallorca with former Austrian Davis Cup captain Stefan Kubek. Kubek insisted that Thiam could benefit from the game practice in Mallorca, insisting that the Austrian is not bad at all on the grass.
“The practice of the game is good for him, Dominic has already proved that he can play on the grass,” said Kubek. “(Then) on this surface you can not be untalented.”
Dominic Thiem won his only title in 2016, defeating eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer on his way to the Stuttgart Open. But he never reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, in fact he only made it to the third round only once (2017).
