America’s Cup 2021 is in serious danger after the South American football body CONMEBOL excluded the hosts of the Argentine tournament.
The announcement came amid rising Coronavirus cases in Argentina late Sunday night.
A statement was posted on Twitter confirming that Argentina had been removed as host and that hosting rights would be transferred to one of the countries interested in hosting the four-year event.
The Copa America was scheduled to start on June 12, a year late, but it remains to be seen whether it will be held on time.

At the same time, the epidemic in Argentina has intensified as a nationwide blockade was announced last week to curb infections. Argentina recorded an average of 35,000 cases over seven days – about 500 deaths.
